Assessment
Why Assess?
Assessment is a critical element of any ‘People Strategy’. Whether you are looking to recruit people, assess talent for succession management or build efficient training programmes, we can help you gain a clear picture of current skills, behaviours and attitudes in your organisation.

Selection
Making an error in selection in your organisation will cost you anywhere between 4 and 14 times the base salary of the individual (and untold collateral damage).
The benefits of getting a hire right are almost incalculable.
Every year harassed and busy managers in your organisation will make selection mistakes, often because they have a key position to fill quickly and they are desperate to find the right person.
We can’t make an exact prediction for you. We don’t know exactly how your new recruit will perform in role. However, we can be certain that we will, on average, increase your chances of selecting a successful candidate by a factor of 5.
What you can expect?
- We rigorously assess what is required for the role, and determine what makes the critical difference between mediocre and stellar performance.
- We recommend solutions appropriate for the role. This may include tests, simulations and questionnaires, telephone interviews or full day long executive assessments or assessment centres
- We only use Chartered Occupational Psychologists for selection, all of whom have previously worked for test publishing consultancies, and can therefore recommend the right psychometric test, questionnaire or work simulation.
- Because we operate independently from test publishers, we have the widest selection of tests, questionnaires and work simulations to choose from.
- We give an in-depth overview, outlining exactly where each candidate is likely to excel, and where they may fail or will require on-going support. We can also assess cultural fit.
- In addition to guiding selection decisions, our outputs can also form the basis of detailed development plans.

Executive Assessment
We understand that when you’re recruiting for senior positions, assessments may need careful handling. Our executive service is for senior appointments where you require a one-on-one assessment. We have a full suite of senior level, strategic assessment exercises, and will provide a comprehensive report outlining potential strengths and danger zones.

Assessment Centres
Where you have a number of candidates to assess you might want to consider running an assessment centre for up to eight candidates. Exposing candidates to a number of different exercises, in different settings with different assessors will ensure the most objective outcome.

Telephone Interviews
For speed and efficiency, it is possible to conduct assessments virtually – via Teams, Zoom or even over the phone if required.

Development
We recognise that having a clear understanding of the skills, abilities and aspirations within your organisation is likely to form the backbone of your HR strategy.
Once established, you can accurately build your succession plan, identify talent and skills gaps, and design targeted development interventions.
During our assessments we expose participants to a range of carefully designed works simulations, which provide an accurate picture of their behaviours and abilities in relevant situations. We always supplement this with an in-depth psychometric and interview with a business psychologist to ensure we have a detailed and accurate perspective.
We often supplement this even further by integrating 360° feedback data.

Outputs
Individuals receive detailed feedback (both written and face-to-face), which raises their self-awareness and very frequently ignites motivation for development.
Very often a coaching relationship is initiated. This sound basis in objectivity and clarity regarding strengths and development areas accelerates the coaching conversation to a higher level from the outset.
You have the option to receive a tailored development plan, which ensures targeted learning where it is needed most; avoiding a costly and demotivating ‘sheep dip’ approach.
Where teams are assessed together, we can provide an overview; identifying any skills gaps within the team. We can also provide an organisational report, which along with performance management data can inform succession management and aid organisation-wide initiatives or change programmes.

360° Feedback
Receiving 360° feedback is often a pivotal point in leaders’ careers. It can illuminate behaviours or attitudes that have been standing in the way for years. Alternatively it can highlight behaviours that others find helpful or even inspirational, and can ultimately encourage these behaviours to be used more broadly or more consistently.
If you feel that comprehensive feedback would be an effective springboard for coaching, assessment, development or team building, then contact us for a sample report.
We recommend that leaders receive feedback from their boss, their peers and their direct reports. We can also include feedback from customers, suppliers or from any other significant relationships
